Today my heart hurts

I don't normally post personal stuff on my business blog, but today I can't help it. I spent some very precious time with my younger brother while he and his wife were down for a visit this week. It was wonderful to see him, but it was bittersweet because my "baby" brother will be shipping out in a couple of months for Afghanistan...for a year. When I think about that my heart just does a flip and then it hurts and I burst into tears.


I pray that God will watch over him every second of every day while he's there. Amen.

Four Generations

This is what inspired me and why I am so excited for the "Mom & Me" sessions next week...

How awesome is it to have beautiful images of family?! Especially ones with your mom. :) I sure hope to golly that I look as great as my mom and grandma do when I get older!

2 p.m. for our "Mom & Me" Limited Edition Sessions.

waiting for grandmas

We've been counting down the days until Grandma Lynda and Grandma Judy come into town for a visit for over a week now. We called Grandma Judy the other day to find out her favorite cookie recipe. You see, Carter loves to make cookies and wants to make sure we have the necessary ingredients to make said cookies. :)

I may be more excited than Carter for their arrival. My mom and grandma and I are "the three musketeers" and I miss them so much when we aren't together. Really looking forward to some silliness and taking some more four generation pictures. They are so important and wonderful to have. This is one I took a year and a half ago in the fall up in MN. Love it!

This post is for my blog reader Naomi

For those of you who follow my blog, you can probaly tell that I struggle with keeping it updated. I don't consider myself much of a writer and I think this keeps me from posting. Even though each session is unique and I really enjoy them, I really don't enjoy the process of writing about them. Make sense? So, I tend to be sparse in my posts. I'll try to do a better job, because it really is neat when someone you've never met before (Naomi) says, "Hey, I read your blog!" Thanks for motivating me to update my blog Naomi! :)

I did this session quite a while back. It was really a newborn session, but I took more images of the big brother than the newborn. First of all, the baby wouldn't go to sleep. And secondly, her big brother is such a ham for the camera I couldn't resist. She wasn't exactly liking the no-clothing situation, so I think that kept her awake.

beautiful bokeh

I'm not much of a landscape photographer, but the trees in our backyard are blooming with such pretty flowers right now that I can't help but go out and snap a few shots. I don't know the technical name of the tree, but I call it a Tulip Tree. Our neighbor's Tulip Tree bird was so nice to deposit a few seeds in our yard and now we have our very own Tulip Tree. I love it.

BTW - the term "bokeh" in the title refers to the lovely light pattern you see behind the flower petals. So pretty. Enjoy. :)

valentine's day...a few days late

I hope everyone had a wonderful Valentine's Day and got to spend some quality time with the ones you love. My little guy let me take this image of him for his Valentine's Day cards this year. I'm always so happy when he's in the mood for photographs because he's definitely going through an "I don't want to have my picture taken!" stage. Having a photographer for a mom makes that understandable...I guess. :)

This shot seemed so appropriate for Valentine's Day. I guess the artwork will be on permanent display in Sarasota now.
